Dr. Roel Compendio, MD

As a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, I bring a strong clinical foundation to every patient I work with. My residency training took place at Hahnemann University Hospital MCP in Philadelphia. My Doctor of Medicine degree comes from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines.

Throughout my career, I have worked across a wide range of psychiatric settings, including inpatient care, crisis services, medical and surgical units, and outpatient community mental health. Earlier on, I served as a staff psychiatrist at Crozer Chester Medical Center, providing care across the medical and surgical unit, crisis service, and outpatient programs. Each of those roles deepened my understanding of how psychiatric illness affects the whole person.

Later, I joined Main Line Health, where I served as Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry at Paoli Memorial Hospital. In addition, I worked as a staff psychiatrist at the American Day Treatment Center in Exton, Pennsylvania. Together, these experiences gave me a broad and nuanced perspective on how emotional health shapes daily functioning and overall well-being.

Currently, I maintain a full-time private practice while also providing psychiatric services through Cornerstone Therapy and Wellness. Above all, my goal is to offer thoughtful, individualized care so that each person feels supported, understood, and confident moving forward in their treatment.

Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, my work centers on understanding each person as a whole. Because every patient brings a unique history and set of goals, I take time to understand what is driving their experience before making any recommendations. From there, we build a treatment plan that feels realistic and right for where they are. Many patients find that this kind of careful, unhurried approach makes a meaningful difference in how they feel about their care.
