DANIELLE BEAUMONT, PSY.D.
I enjoy working with strong personalities and have experience working with children, adults, teens, couples, and families through various challenges. I received my Master’s degree and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology through LaSalle University, where I developed an appreciation for mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical (DBT), as well as more traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
While completing my doctoral internship and my post-doctoral residency on a dual-diagnosis (mental health and substance dependence) long-term residential unit, I developed a deep understanding of trauma and how underlying mental health issues create and maintain alcoholism and drug dependency. Before receiving my clinical psychology training, I received a Master’s in Elementary Education from Drexel University. I also gained experience completing comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations for children ages 5-15 through CHOP’s ADHD clinic. I then spent ten years contracting in schools across the Philadelphia School District, completing evaluations for at-risk children to receive one-to-one support at their schools in the city’s most impoverished areas. In addition to the experiences listed above, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a large part of the catalyst for change. I like to use humor and genuine conversation to demystify therapy’s experience and help normalize people’s experiences through human connection.
Because of my clinical experiences, I truly believe that change is possible, even in the direst of circumstances. My ultimate goal is to increase your tolerance for distress so that you can handle what life inevitably throws at you and still take care of yourself, your responsibilities, and those around you in the most adaptive ways possible.
