Dakota Sheehan, LPC

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), I provide individualized therapy to support your emotional well-being and personal growth. I specialize in working with clients navigating trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, recovery addiction, men’s issues, peer issues, school issues, domestic violence, life transitions, and disability support. I also have extensive experience supporting individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy (CP), and autism, as well as providing equine-assisted therapy to Veterans and First Responders, a population I am deeply passionate about serving. My approach to therapy is collaborative, person-centered, and empowering. I view therapy as a partnership—while you are the expert in your own life, I bring professional guidance to help you explore challenges, discover new perspectives, and build practical strategies for growth. Together, we’ll work on developing a personalized toolbox of coping skills, creative problem-solving techniques, and meaningful goals to support your healing journey. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Multicultural Counseling Approaches. These frameworks allow me to tailor each session to your unique needs and experiences. My style is direct, honest, and compassionate, with an emphasis on building strong rapport and creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can feel supported. I earned my undergraduate degree from Chestnut Hill College, where I double majored in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I later completed my Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Multicultural Counseling at Delaware Valley University. With more than 10 years of clinical experience, I am honored to walk alongside clients as they navigate both long-standing mental health challenges and new life transitions. Whether you are seeking support for healing, self-acceptance, or resilience, my goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and equipped to face life’s challenges with clarity and strength.
